Q • How Do I Apply For A Position At Hopes & Dreams?
You can apply for a position by clicking on the Apply Now button and answering some very simple questions. We will then schedule a phone call with you to chat to you about the position that you wish to apply for and check that your qualifications and experience are appropriate. If you wish to proceed we will then arrange a face to face interview and invite you to audition by leading an activity with a group of children so that we can see you in action.
Q • What Are The Hours and Rates of Pay?
Our settings are open from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday. Our full time staff generally work for 7.5 hours per day across all five days. This equates to 37.5 hours per week. Full time staff receive a one hour unpaid lunch break.
Part time staff can work anything from 11 hours per week through to 25 hours per week.
As our settings are open all year round our staff generally work all year round, although exceptionally Term Time Only positions may be available.
Salary rates are towards the top end of the market and depend on the qualifications, experience and responsibilities of the role.
Q • Do The Staff Wear Uniforms?
Yes. All employees with exception of Director and assistant Director positions are required to wear approved Hopes & Dreams uniform which includes a logoʼd polo shirt, and fleece outerwear. Directors and assistant Directors are required to wear approved professional attire.
Q • How Many Holiday / Sick Days Do We Get And What Other Benefits Are There?
For full time year round employees we provide a minimum of 30 days paid holiday leave per annum. Employees earn entitlement for additional holiday leave depending on their length of service. We also offer sick pay in addition to Statutory benefits. (some limits apply)
In addition you will be able to access extensive support for skills training and attaining relevant childcare qualifications, including payment for training and meetings that happen outside of normal working hours.
Q • Will I Stay In One Age Group Or Float?
It depends on the position we are looking to hire for. Generally our staff are assigned to a specific age group for the duration of the academic year, however unforeseen circumstances may require assistance in other rooms. Early Years Assistants and Apprentices are required to be more flexible.
Generally staff will work exclusively at one setting although the need may arise for temporarily working at another setting. You are able to request a move to another setting within our family of nurseries if your circumstances change and this would suit you better. We don’t guarantee that we will be accommodate your request but we will if we can.
Q • Is There A Chance For Promotion Within Hopes & Dreams?
Yes. Hopes & Dreams promotes from within whenever and wherever possible based on experience, qualification and suitability to the position.
Q • When Will A Decision Be Made For This Position?
It depends on the market, needs and number of applications. A decision can take anywhere from the same day up till a month.
Q • With Whom Will I Be Working Most Closely?
It depends on your position. Early Years Assistants work closely with Early Years Educators. Early Years Educators work closely with the Room Managers, and the Room Managers work closely with the Nursery Director. However our staff teams are not too large and you will get to know and work with all of your colleagues over time. All employees are required to work together as a team to ensure the efficient operation of the setting.
Q • Do I Get On The Job Training?
Yes. All new staff participate in a comprehensive induction during which time they will learn what is required by Hopes & Dreams. This includes policies and procedures, rules and regulations, meeting other staff members, meeting parents and children of not only their assigned room but those of other rooms across the setting.
